Fox Spirit Books Featured Business January 2016

Fox Spirit believes that day to day life lacks a few things. We need the fantastic, the magical, the mischievous and even a touch of the horrific to stave off the banal and humdrum.
Ad Captandum Vulpus
A small indie press based in Leicestershire, Fox Spirit Books works with authors and artists from Leicestershire and worldwide to bring fantastic stories to the reading public.  It started in 2012 with a plan to put together an anthology ‘Tales of the Nun and Dragon’ and has grown rapidly since.  In 2015 Fox Spirit won the British Fantasy Society, Best Independent Press. As of January 2016 Fox Spirit have over forty titles out. While mainly focussing on genres like sci fi, fantasy, horror, crime, and all the blending they offer, the press also has a small book of poetry based around fox mythology from local poet V.C. Linde, a translation on a fencing manual that was lost for 400 years (The Second Giganti) under the Vulpes imprint and will be launching a line of martial arts manuals and biographical works under FoxGloves.
Director and commissioning Editor Adele Wearing has lived in Leicestershire most of her life and in addition to running Fox Spirit, has been involved in running local lit events such as the Fox Bites short readings evenings, open to all local writers and the 2014 Leicester Comic Con run by Leicester Shootfighters’ Nathan Leverton. Adele is a regular on panels at events like Edge.Lit and also gives occasional short courses or seminars aimed at new writers making first contact with the industry.
